The knowledge should be from where they are produced, the manufacturers, the naming system used, the processing methods, the sizes and shapes and other relate information for the a smoker could ask about them. He should also have sampled all of his stock and could review each and every on of them.
The seller must be in a position to have as many different humidors as possible to age and store his merchandise, also he should have enough money to stock his shop; he needs to keep some of the stock for more than six months before he can sell them. The shop rent, licenses, the cigars stock and the staff cost money thus the finances should be there to cater for all these expenses.
So in short the business is very capital intensive. Care should be taken not drain his stock in sampling or giving free sample to customer. The rule used by drug dealers of “never get high on your stock’ applies here.
He should also have the network or connection to source humidors and other accessories from the best supplies at the best prices. Also he should be able to keep updated with the latest information and trends about cigars by reading books and magazines or the internet.
